An increasing world population of six billion people, with hitherto unknown technical abilities, is massively affecting global nature. Civilisation has become a force of nature in its own right, causing far-reaching changes in the ecosystem. Against this backdrop architects, city planners and designers today are confronted with unimagined challenges in terms of creating space, extending far beyond the horizons of their disciplines. Taking this challenge as chance the lecture presents numerous integrative approaches that reflect a new sense of forward-looking ecological intelligence that successfully learns from nature and breaks down the boundaries between architecture, design and other spheres of knowledge and experience.
