Art seeks interaction during the Wereld van de Witte de With. Interaction with buildings, the street, inside and in public space, between the audience and the artist! For three days the Wereld van de Witte de With brings art by young European artists, on the streets but also with 3o art institutions at Rotterdam's art axis. From September 9 to 11 2011 the Wereld van de Witte de With festival curated by Lukas Feireiss and Hidde van Schie takes place in Rotterdam. This year's theme is Victory of the Bottom-up Approach. During the festival young European artists show how they manifest themselves, without interferance by institutionalised institutions, in public space, add and alter ideas on art and the public space and offer a new vision on the open space through estrangement. With their 'do-it-yourself' mentality they claim public space, on the streets but also in art institutions on the Rotterdam art axis de Witte de Withstreet. The international architect collective Exyzt shows how hotel rooms can be created anywhere out of anything, Bill Drummond (ex-KLF) carpents a bed out of wood and V2_ presents the solution for environmental problems through open source software and hardware and a bottom-up approach.
